Gracie Keiter's profile

Duel Perspectives Tunnel Book

This tunnel book was created to visually express the feeling of the protective, comfortable "bubble" of being at home versus the extreme, often harsh environment of being at school (often referred to as "the RISD Bubble" by students). While sometimes it can feel nurturing and exploratory, the Bubble can also become incredibly isolating, pushing its occupants to the breaking point. These inhabitants are represented with teacups in each sphere of existence--the forms are fragile, but can stand the test of time. The forms are back-to-back, for you cannot know the comfort of one without enduring the other.

Letterpress (with ink as well as blind embossing) and silk screen printing were both used in this piece.
